Numerical simulation

The Center's experts have developed:
- Comprehensive models and software for simulating three-dimensional flow heat and mass transfer in complex geometries.
-Identification of parameters and optimization software based on deterministic and stochastic methods of minimization.
- Software for the calculation of the concentrated solar radiation based on the rays tracing method.
These tools are useful for dimensioning and optimization of facilities producing or using energy (wind, solar sensors, reactors, dryers, burners, reactors, hybrid energy systems...).

Hydrogen storage

LesThe TCE experts have made several types of hydrogen storage tanks:
They have put in place tools for theoretical and experimental studies of the storage of hydrogen in hydrides.
Theoretical tools are comprehensives models and software to simulate the three-dimensional heat and mass transfers during the absorption and desorption of hydrogen by the hydrides.
The experimental tools are test facilities for metal-hydrogen reactors and materials characterization devices (equilibrium pressure curves, kinetics, etc.).
These tools are useful for sizing and optimizing hydrogen sorption processes from the point of view of storage capacity and kinetics and costs.

Energy metrology :


The CTE experts have developed direct calculation codes :
codes for the simulation and optimization of experiments and inverse calculation codes for the identification of thermo physical properties (thermal conductivity, heat capacity, thermal diffusivity, emissivity, absorptivity .... ), Heat sources, boundary conditions etc...
They have also mounted experiments to determine the different thermophysical properties.

Renewable energies

The TCE experts have developed theoretical tools for:
- the statistical processing of meteorological data and the evaluation of solar and wind deposits.
-the design and optimization of hybrid energy systems .
-the calculation of concentrated solar radiation.
-the calculation of the flow around the blades and in the wake of wind turines..
They also carried out experimental studies on wind turbines and solar collectors.

Energy storage:

The TCE experts have developed several types of latent heat energy storage accumulator :
They have put in place tools for theoretical and experimental studies of latent heat storage systems..
The theoretical tools are comprehensive models and software to simulate the three-dimensional heat and mass transfers during the melting and solidification of phase change materials.
The experimental tools are tests facilities of latent heat storage systems and measurement of thermo physical characteristics (latent heat, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity).

Drying:

The TCE experts have put in place tools for theoretical and experimental studies of the drying of different media (wood, ceramics, brick, textile, hygroscopic granular media ...).
The theoretical tools are rather comprehensive models and software to simulate the three-dimensional heat and mass transfers during the drying of media of complex geometries.
The experimental tools are drying loops and materials characterization devices.
These tools are useful for dimensioning and optimization of drying processes from the point of view of energy consumption , time and quality of the dried product.

Combustion:

The TCE experts have realized several types of burners (coaxial, with separate jets, with addition of oxygen and / or hydrogen ... ):
They have put in place tools for theoretical and experimental studies of burners.
The theoretical tools are comprehensive models and software to simulate the three-dimensional flow and heat and mass transfer during the combustion.
The experimental tools are test facilities for burners.
These tools are useful for sizing and optimizing burners and combustion chambers.
